College of Fine Arts, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath is organizing a rare International Artists-Teachers Camp wherein eight artist-teachers from eight different countries (France, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Poland, Michigan, Turkey, Mauritius and UK), Forteen artist-teachers from throughout India’s leading art universities and institutions like Santiniketan, Baroda, Lucknow, Benaras Hindu University and Hyderabad are participating.
All these artists are Painters, printmakers and sculptors, some of them are visiting India for the first time. Also all the faculty of College of Fine Arts are participating in the show. This is the first time that artists who are also teachers and tutors who are actively involved in art policy making, pedagogy and contributing to the making of an art community in their surroundings.
These artists are going to create artworks in all the departments of the College of Fine Arts, interact with the artist fraternity, teaching faculty and students about contemporary artistic practice. This is for the first time that an international camp of artists who are also teachers, is taking place in India in general and Bangalore in particular.
The camp will be inaugurated at 4 pm on Wednesday, 17th January 2018 and will be on till Thursday, 25th January 2018. Mr. Priyank Kharge, Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology and Tourism (Govt of Karnataka) will inaugurate the event. The Guests of Honour will be Mr. M.K. Shankaralinge Gowda (I.A.S, Retd.), Chairman of Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission; and Mr. Franck Barthelemew (Art Connoisseur and Art Collector). The International Camp has been organized by College of Fine Arts, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath in collaboration with Department of Higher Education, Government of Karnataka.
